Seiko launch the Presage Arita Porcelain ‘Concentric’ as part of their Craftsmanship Series – a series of watches made by skilled Japanese craftspeople, complimenting Seiko’s rich history and expertise in watchmaking.

The Presage Arita Porcelain ‘Concentric’ is named after Arita, a small town on Kyushu, an island off the southwest coast of Japan, which came to prominence in the early 17th century when clay suitable for porcelain was discovered and quickly became highly prized for high quality artistry. Despite a history of over 400 years, this traditional craft has never stopped evolving in terms of materials and moulding techniques.

Under dual-curve sapphire crystal glass is a porcelain blue-white dial, contrasting with deep blue accented hands and indices; traditional colours of Arita porcelain. Previously, due to its nature, Arita porcelain lacked the durability and strength for a watch dial. This new type of Arita porcelain has been created to be more than four times harder, allowing the strength and flexibility required for a Presage watch. The recessed concentric ring pattern around the centre with the recessed subdial at 6 o'clock demonstrates expert craftsmanship due to the difficulty of their creation from delicate porcelain. The case of the Presage Arita Porcelain ‘Concentric’ has a super-hard coating, allowing for improved scratch-resistance. This timepiece is powered by an in-house automatic 6R5H movement, accurate to -15/+25 seconds per day, with a power reserve of 72 hours.
