The Glenturret quickly became my new favourite whisky as it has bags of character. I was lucky enough to have a bottle of 12yo from the 2022 release and 10yo Peat Smoked from the 2023 release as birthday presents and after trying each. I had no idea of the connection between The Glenturret and Lalique, but after pouring myself a few drams I was impressed by the bottle that it peaked my interest and did some digging. I should have known better to just have looked closely on the bottle itself as it says on the base that it's made by Lalique.

The Glenturret was indeed bought by Lalique and to all reason has been a great acquisition and boosted the distilleries fortunes with som exceptional releases (which in all respect was already there sitting in the barrels) but Lalique has propelled the brand to a higher level. A core collection was followed by limited releases and now a The Glenturret by Lalique collection showcasing their exquisite crystal skills with some elaborate bottles that house vintage Glenturret whisky.

The Glenturret Whiskies

The Glenturret 12 Years Old

The Glenturret 12 Years Old is the heart and soul of The Glenturret range of whiskies. Fewer than sixty carefully selected casks come together to create this beautiful whisky. American oak casks drive the salted caramel sweetness whilst European oak layers the dried fruits and spices leading to a full rich single malt.

Celebrating the evolution of flavours, peat features heavily in The Glenturret's distilling history – records showing that the distillery dug peat from the mosses at their water source for whisky production in the early 1800’s. The smoke flavours are constantly evolving and changing through time. The Glenturret's peated spirit style is matured in both first-fill and second-fill European and American oak casks. The resulting whisky forms a complex single malt that commands a higher strength of 48.4% ABV.

The Glenturret Distillery

Scotland's oldest working distillery, The Glenturret is located in the picturesque ‘Hosh’, Crieff, Perthshire. Upon visiting there are tours around the distillery and when finished walking around the historical buildings you can enjoy a whisky flight at The Lalique Bar. A restaurant was added, which now holds two Michelin stars, where you can sample great local produce and pair with The Glenturret's amber nectar.
